JEDI is a parent-led group that promotes a vision for Ivanhoe to advance justice, equity, diversity, and inclusive practices within our school and society.

Some of our primary goals include:

Developing mindsets and skills to guarantee that all students’ and families’ school experiences are welcoming and positive regardless of race, religion, gender, LGBTQ+ identities, physical and learning abilities, home language, immigrant, or socioeconomic status.

Building relationships with a diverse base of parents, caregivers, students, and staff who can advocate for the Ivanhoe community in a safe space.

Publishing a bimonthly newsletter that highlights upcoming events, family-friendly activities, and other JEDI news. (Sign up to get the newsletter emailed straight to your inbox.)

Compiling a calendar of heritage months and important historical dates.

Providing an inclusive language guide to help think about the ways we write and describe our communities.

Sharing resources that have been recommended by Ivanhoe families for promoting multiculturalism, celebrating diversity, and fighting racism.

Collaborating with the Student Council, the School Site Council (SSC), Friends of Ivanhoe (FOI), and other groups at Ivanhoe.

Together, JEDI volunteer-organizers aim to build trust, hold purposeful conversations, and support a variety of events that lead to collective action for justice. To be part of this collaborative effort, sign up for a project. For more info, email IvanhoeJEDI@gmail.com.
